The misuse of votive candles and in-pew envelopes has been brought to the attention of our office and we are asking for your assistance on the following:
The envelopes in the pews are provided for special collections, guests or parishioners as needed. We would like to remind you that there is a cost associated in providing these envelopes and are therefore asking that you use them only for this purpose. These envelopes are not intended for scratch paper or coloring papers for the children.
We are also noticing the unattended children at the votive stands playing with the candles. These candles are provided for all to be able to pray and to lift up prayers. Unfortunately, we have had to continuously replenish the votive candles and the glass votive holders because of misuse. Traditionally, a donation if possible, is given when lighting a candle. There are more candles being lit than money being deposited, and we have noticed it is the unsupervised children lighting the candles and they are not using them for prayer. Please do not allow any children to play with or around the votive stands.
Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated and we thank you in advance for your assistance.
